Sandy Liang has mastered the art of the accessory — in fact, cute baubles and bows are the heart of the brand. Whether it’s bulbous barrettes, quirky two toned jewelry, or even an exclusive Sandy branded Monchhichi doll — which the designer released in Fall 2024 — small accessories and jewelry are the cherry on top to the coquette aesthetic that we all know and love Sandy Liang for.
Now, the downtown New York City designer introduces a brand new accessory collaboration, one unlike any she’s launched before: Sandy Liang x Yoshida & Co. Liang often pulls inspiration from poignant points of her life. Her recently unveiled Fall/Winter 2026 collection included nods to Kiki’s Delivery Service, a Studio Ghibli film she grew up with, and memories spent with her family’s matriarchs. Pockets on dainty frocks were inspired by the aprons her grandmother wore, while fleece co-ord sets were reminiscent of fuzzy PJs from her childhood.
For this special collaboration, the designer reflected on a trip to Tokyo she took in high school. Via Substack, she mentions walking into the Yoshida store and immediately being smitten with their range of utility-inspired accessories and bags. Not to mention, the brand is a Japanese cornerstone, and therefore a great piece of the local heritage to bring back with her. She shared that she picked out a polka dot canvas tote that still exists in her wardrobe to this day.
Now, completing a full-circle moment, Liang has released three exclusive Porter styles with Yoshida & Co., a miniature backpack, a cylindrical handbag, and a medium sized bag that also doubles as a crossbody, available online and at her in-person utopia on Orchard St. Given whimsical names à la the playful Sandy universe — MUFFIN, LOAF, and TOAST — the three offerings fuse both Liang’s signature playful aesthetic with Porter’s more rugged, practical ethos.
